It has been nearly a century since the creation of Streams in the Desert by the American Saint-Lettie Bard. The book has received a continuous and extensive favorable reception among readers all over the world. Lettie Bard records in detail each day’s life experience of a year and also collects numerous preaches and religious writings as well as hymn fragments. Her language is fresh and penetrating full of encouraging and inspirational spiritual power.

To cooperate with the religious content and the fresh style of Streams in the Desert, we create Streams in the Desert–Full-color and Freehand Insets Edition with a brand new style by referring to the inset pattern of medieval Christian classical prayer books and incorporating suitable format style of modern readers. With the 75 freehand insets in prayer book passing on the gospel spirit, we believe that the Christian artistic beauty and profoundness could also be perceived along with reading this “spiritual gospel”.

[Author: Mrs. Charles E. Cowman]

Mrs. Charles E. Cowman was the wife of Rev. Charles Cowman, founder of the Oriental Missionary Society. This organization was founded by Rev. Cowman with the purpose of evangelizing and setting up native ministries in Japan, Korea, China, and Formosa. Rev. and Mrs. Cowman served for 20 years until Rev. Cowmans failing health forced them to return to their home in California.

Streams in the Desert is a devotional compiled by Mrs. Cowman from various sermons, readings, writings, and poetry she had read over the years. The immense popularity of this book has allowed at least 19 editions of the book to be printed. The initial response to the devotional brought letters from China, Japan, Korea, Australia, Africa, and many island countries. The widespread appeal grows daily as new readers discover the joy, challenge, and inspiration found in Streams in the Desert and Mrs. Cowmans other compilations.
